531 | Own the Narrative of Your Evolving Business

Listen to the Corresponding Podcast Episode:

Human Design for Business coach Today, I’m thrilled to dive into a topic that often arises among my entrepreneurial friends and clients: the difference between pivoting and evolving in business. Understanding and embracing this distinction is crucial for owning your brand narrative and maintaining cohesion even in the middle of changes.

A pivot signifies a complete change in direction, which can appear chaotic and confusing to your audience. On the other hand, evolution is about continuing in the same direction while adapting and growing. This approach provides continuity, making your business appear more cohesive and understandable.

Owning Your Narrative

Owning your narrative is essential. It allows you to present changes as a natural progression rather than abrupt shifts. This helps your audience understand your mission and remain connected to your brand.

My Evolution to IGNITE Her®

woman leaning up agains a wall Over the past five years, my brand has undergone significant evolution, not pivots. For instance, I transitioned from a 20-year corporate career at IBM to network marketing, and eventually to entrepreneurship. Each step was a part of my journey to find my true mission. One of my favorite quotes from Steve Jobs is, “you can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking back.,” and in my journey and evolution, each step has revealed the next dot. For that, I am so grateful!

Initially, I dabbled in network marketing, which served as my entry into entrepreneurship. This experience led me to open a brick-and-mortar boutique, an important learning phase, even though it wasn’t the perfect fit for my Human Design. From there, my passion for helping women led me to start a coaching business, evolving my brand further.

Throughout this journey, the common thread has been my mission to help women IGNITE their highest potential. My brand, IGNITE Her, symbolizes this ongoing evolution. While the tools and methods I use have evolved—from network marketing to life coaching, and now incorporating Human Design—the core mission remains unchanged.

In my quest to better serve my clients, I sought additional certifications. I got certified with the Life Coach School, then with Bob Proctor’s teachings, and currently, I’m completing a certification with the BG5 Business Institute in the business application of Human Design. Each step has been an evolution, refining how I help my clients IGNITE their potential.

The Importance of Messaging

It’s vital to own and communicate your narrative, especially when faced with external changes. People might question your direction, but those who resonate with your mission will stay. They understand that each change is part of a larger evolution, not a chaotic pivot.

Evolution is Necessary

Your business journey is an evolution, and it’s essential to frame it as such. Embrace the changes, own your narrative, and focus on your mission. Remember, you’re not chaotic or confusing—you’re evolving. This mindset shift can make a profound difference in how you and your audience perceive your brand’s growth.
